Hendersonville, TN Birth Story...the birth of James (Nashville, TN Birth Photography)
As a birth photographer, I am on call 24/7. I do not travel the weeks before and after the due dates of my clients. I have a bag packed and ready to go at any moment's notice. I have the ringer on my cell phone set as high as it will go, ready to jump out of bed as soon as it starts to chime. I also have back up birth photographers, *just in case* that moment arrives and I am unable to rush to a birth due to unforeseen circumstances that would either risk the health of my mamas and babes...like the illness that plagued my own home the day I got the call for this particular birth.
The dreaded stomach virus hit our house. Not just any 24 hour bug...this was the week long monster version. And I got the call. Mama was in labor and en route to the hospital. And boy I CRIED. This was the first ever birth client of mine that I would need to send one of my talented backup birth photographers in my place. She also happened to be one of my favorite clients!! ;) To say I was devastated would be an understatement! But this is exactly why I contract backups...because we always need to be prepared for anything that can happen.
My wonderful friend and fellow birth photographer, Holly Douglas, immediately took my call and headed for the hospital. She kept me informed the entire time she was there and took wonderful photos for me to be able to edit. And here are a few of those from the birth of baby James. I will be meeting this sweet girl in just a few days for her newborn photos and I cannot wait!!
