Hi! I’m Rachel Alura, owner of AluraWayne Photography + Film!
I’m originally from Norfolk, VA. I opened AluraWayne Photography in 2013 in Knoxville, TN after leaving my job as an Aviation Inspector and taking photography courses at the University of Tennessee. After moving to Nashville in 2015, I expanded my business and eventually found my photography studio space here in Nashville in 2021. I share my studio with a few local photographers and absolutely love the environment and community we have built together.
My business was named for four people: Rachel Alura (myself), Wesley Wayne (my darling husband), and my maternal grandparents- Alura and Wayne. The love and commitment they poured out onto both each other and to the world around them inspires me every single day.
I’m the most extroverted enneagram 2w3 in absolutely EVERY way imaginable. If you’re nervous for your session, trust me, you don’t have to be- because I can do all the talking for us!
I am a proud mama and stepmama to four remarkable kiddos, and also now a foster mama with a passion for pouring love into all children who need it.
I grew all the flowers you see here- I grow around 200+ dahlias and various others every summer, and I get to use them for sessions like my flower minis! Digging around in my garden is one of my favorite things to do outside of photography.
I have an entire zoo at home- one German Shepherd, two cats, four fish, and one beautiful cornsnake named Sneak for his ever-present insistence on finding a weak spot in his habitat. (He’s only managed to escape once. We have extra clips on his lid now.)
I got my first tattoo at 23 and I’ve been collecting them ever since.
My favorite thing in the world is to help people feel seen, valued, and loved.
Where is your studio located?
My studio is located at 6901 Lenox Village Drive, Suite 105, in Nashville, TN. Easy to turn into, and convenient parking is located directly behind the building in a parking lot, or along the street out front. We are located right along the Williamson County border as well for a quick drive from Nolensville and Brentwood, and not far from the interstate for surrounding towns such as Franklin, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, and beyond. Though I’ve had clients come from as far as Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, and Alabama, it’s quite easy to get to us from most of Middle Tennessee!

What kind of sessions do you shoot?
I like to refer to my genre as “growing families”, but that has certainly involved over time! My primary work would fall under maternity sessions, newborn sessions, family sessions, milestone sessions, portrait sessions to include senior photos and the occasional headshots, and intimate elopements. I still get a lot of inquiries for births, and while I loved capturing them for many years, my schedule and family life unfortunately no longer accommodates the on call nature of the job. I am happy to refer all inquiring birth inquiries to the ever-talented Jess Harris Photo + Film Co. She is additionally certified as a doula. (She books up FAST- so get on her schedule literally the second you can! We are woefully short on birth filmmakers here locally, and she is fantastic and highly sought after.)
Do you have a client closet?
I sure do! I have dresses ranging from more casual to elaborate glam from XS - 4X. You can see examples HERE! (I’m always updating the closet, so there may be some not quite photographed yet.) A visual gallery is still being worked on for what newborn - 18 month options we have, but there are some in the gallery already! I have several additional options for newborns as far as wraps, headbands, bonnets, and a few cream outfits now as well. You can see many of these in use on my social media accounts and around the website.
